Whole-House vs. Point-of-Use Water Filtration

water filtration system is a popular investment among homeowners throughout Florida. Whether your home’s water source is well water or through your public utilities, you’re likely dealing with hard water containing various contaminants that may impact your water quality. Fortunately, water filtration systems are designed to address these issues so that you can improve your home’s water—and you have options. One important decision you’ll want to make when choosing a water filtration system is whether a whole-house or point-of-use water filter will better suit your needs.

Benefits of Whole-House Water Filters for Your Home

A whole-house water filter is a great option when you want to improve the quality of the water throughout your entire home. This type of water filtration system is designed to filter the water before it runs through your pipes and is distributed to sinks, showerheads, faucets, and appliances. A whole-house water filter may be the right option for you if you want to:

  • Remove harmful bacteria and chemicals from the water before it’s used at any point in your home.
  • Eliminate unpleasant odors and tastes from your water.
  • Protect your pipes, plumbing, and water-using appliances.

While the upfront cost of a whole-home water filtration system will be higher than a point-of-use water filter system, the benefits are widespread and help increase your home’s value.

Benefits of Choosing Point-of-Use Water Filters

A point-of-use water filter is installed at a single point in your home and is generally used to address a specific problem or need. For instance, if you want to have filtered water specifically for drinking, a water filter can be installed in your kitchen to enjoy better-tasting water whenever you’re thirsty. If you’d like to remove bacteria and contaminants from the water you use for cooking, a point-of-use water filter is also a great option for your kitchen.

Choosing the Right Water Filter System for Your Needs

When thinking about a water filtration system for your home, you’ll want to consider your specific needs and preferences. What problem are you looking to solve with a water filtration system? What benefits would you like to see from a water filter? Certain water filtration systems are designed to address specific contaminants, making finding a targeted solution for your home easy. Our professionals can test your water quality to help you find the water filtration system that perfectly suits your needs.

This company worked very hard to remove my very old water heater. They did an excellent job installing my new one. Very professional, and kind. Willing to answer my questions also. Thank you.

Tony, the technician/plumber from Florida Energy Water & Air, was most pleasant, knowledgeable, professional. He arrived on completed the replacement of very old water heater including nearly 100% disappearance of the "knocking noise" in less than an hour, and cleaned up the work area very nicely at the end. I highly recommend his and FEWA to anyone needing these kind of services. Thanks Tony!

My experience with the team at Florida Energy Water & Air has been very positive throughout the whole process. I purchased the water treatment and air purification systems for my new home. Jack, the sales representative, did a very impressive job making the 2-hour demo fun, engaging, and interesting. I had no idea how much time had passed until it was over because he did such a great job keeping my attention. The installation was performed by Robenson a few hours later that same day! He was very professional and did a great job with the installation. I wasn’t a big fan of drilling a hole through my garage to run the water pipe, but he made the hole as small as possible and it looks like the house was built that way. He and his partner did a great job cleaning up after themselves. Finally, John was very friendly, professional, informative, and helpful during the post-installation quality inspection. Overall, it has been a very positive experience.
