What Are the Health Benefits of Alkaline Water?

In recent years, alkaline water has been garnering attention for its unique properties and potential health advantages. With a slightly higher pH level than regular tap water, alkaline water has sparked curiosity among health-conscious individuals. So, is it a good idea to have alkaline water running through your home’s pipes, or is it just a health fad? In this blog post, we will dive into the fascinating world of alkaline water and explore the potential health benefits it offers.
Understanding Alkaline Water: The pH Factor
Alkaline water is water that has a higher pH level than regular tap water. The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14, with 7 being neutral. Alkaline water typically falls in the range of 7 to 9, making it slightly more alkaline than neutral tap water.
While the research on alkaline water’s health benefits is still ongoing, some potential advantages have been suggested. Here are some of the most notable perks associated with drinking alkaline water:
- It may balance your body’s pH levels.
- Alkaline water could be more hydrating for your body than acidic or neutral water.
- Alkaline water is believed to have antioxidant properties, which can help combat harmful free radicals in the body and reduce oxidative stress.
- Some studies suggest that alkaline water’s higher mineral content, particularly calcium and magnesium, may contribute to bone health and overall bone density.
- Drinking alkaline water may help neutralize stomach acid, potentially easing symptoms of acid reflux or heartburn.
Moderation Is Key
While there are potential health benefits associated with drinking alkaline water, it’s essential to approach it with a balanced perspective. Consuming alkaline water may be part of a well-rounded approach to a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet, regular exercise, and proper hydration.
Should You Want Alkaline Water Running Through Your Home’s Plumbing?
The short answer is this: No, you shouldn’t. Water that is alkaline is also hard, and hard water is never something you should strive for in your home. There are many downsides to having hard water in your home, including:
- Tap water that smells or tastes bad
- Residue in sinks, showers, and bathtubs
- Crunchy clothing straight out of the washing machine
- White spots or stains on clean dishes
What’s more, hard water can negatively impact your water-using appliances and potentially even shorten their lifespans.

From what I saw in the beginning and the end, there was a huge difference. It was a job well done. It worth my time and money. And everyone should give it a try.
Excellent company, thorough, responsive, and all around amazing!! I'm so happy with my new A/C unit, attic turbine, and solar hot water heater. It has already saved me money on my electric bill.
The experience with all aspects from the presentation to installation and inspection was great. Glenn who presented was kind, informative and extremely helpful in finding the right system for us. The installer Robinson was extremely professional with the installation did a great job and John was also great in explaining the finance and perks!! Overall 10/10
This company worked very hard to remove my very old water heater. They did an excellent job installing my new one. Very professional, and kind. Willing to answer my questions also. Thank you.
Tony, the technician/plumber from Florida Energy Water & Air, was most pleasant, knowledgeable, professional. He arrived on completed the replacement of very old water heater including nearly 100% disappearance of the "knocking noise" in less than an hour, and cleaned up the work area very nicely at the end. I highly recommend his and FEWA to anyone needing these kind of services. Thanks Tony!
My experience with the team at Florida Energy Water & Air has been very positive throughout the whole process. I purchased the water treatment and air purification systems for my new home. Jack, the sales representative, did a very impressive job making the 2-hour demo fun, engaging, and interesting. I had no idea how much time had passed until it was over because he did such a great job keeping my attention. The installation was performed by Robenson a few hours later that same day! He was very professional and did a great job with the installation. I wasn’t a big fan of drilling a hole through my garage to run the water pipe, but he made the hole as small as possible and it looks like the house was built that way. He and his partner did a great job cleaning up after themselves. Finally, John was very friendly, professional, informative, and helpful during the post-installation quality inspection. Overall, it has been a very positive experience.
Great customer service. Jean Amaro was especially helpful and took care of my issues and concerns personally. Technicians were friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend their services.
