Are Whole-House Water Filtration Systems Worth the Cost?

Did you know that the water that runs through your home’s plumbing may be filled with contaminants such as bacterium, herbicides, pesticides, and parasites? While your local water authorities do what they can to try and eliminate harmful chemicals and pollutants from entering your water supply, accidents happen, and unwanted waste could still infiltrate your water. Fortunately, there’s a simple solution that can prevent this from occurring: a whole-house water filter.

There’s nothing more important than your health and the health of your family members, so why risk ingesting contaminated water? With a whole-house water filter, you can improve the taste and quality of your home’s water supply and avoid potential health concerns caused by heavy metals or other contaminants in your drinking water.

How Does a Whole-House Water Filter Work?

Unlike a simple under-sink filter, a whole-house water filter will filter your entire home’s water supply—from the water you use to bathe to the water your washing machine uses to clean your clothes. This water treatment is plumbed into your main water line, so every drop of water that enters your home is cleared of any pollutants.

There are also various styles of whole-house water filters you can choose to invest in for your home. While some may filter only certain substances from your water supply, others can tackle a much larger range of issues. Aside from bacterium, herbicides, pesticides, and parasites, some of these contaminants include:

  • Mercury
  • Lead
  • Sediment
  • Arsenic
  • Uranium
  • Nitrates
  • Microplastics

How Could I Benefit From This Water Treatment?

Whether you’re simply tired of the unpleasant egg-like smell your water emits, or you’re concerned about the level of contaminants you may be drinking unknowingly, a whole-house water filter could greatly benefit you. Consuming and using dirty water can be damaging to your health, water-using appliances, and dishes and clothes.

Tony, the technician/plumber from Florida Energy Water & Air, was most pleasant, knowledgeable, professional. He arrived on completed the replacement of very old water heater including nearly 100% disappearance of the "knocking noise" in less than an hour, and cleaned up the work area very nicely at the end. I highly recommend his and FEWA to anyone needing these kind of services. Thanks Tony!

My experience with the team at Florida Energy Water & Air has been very positive throughout the whole process. I purchased the water treatment and air purification systems for my new home. Jack, the sales representative, did a very impressive job making the 2-hour demo fun, engaging, and interesting. I had no idea how much time had passed until it was over because he did such a great job keeping my attention. The installation was performed by Robenson a few hours later that same day! He was very professional and did a great job with the installation. I wasn’t a big fan of drilling a hole through my garage to run the water pipe, but he made the hole as small as possible and it looks like the house was built that way. He and his partner did a great job cleaning up after themselves. Finally, John was very friendly, professional, informative, and helpful during the post-installation quality inspection. Overall, it has been a very positive experience.
