The Premier Source for Solar Water Heaters in Orlando, FL

A solar water heater is a fantastic choice for any home in the Orlando, Florida, area. In the Sunshine State, we have an abundant number of sunny days that make this option highly practical. Solar water heaters generate hot water in an inexpensive and environmentally friendly way—they use a series of roof-mounted solar energy collectors that absorb the sun’s radiant energy and transfer it to water to use for bathing, doing laundry, and washing dishes. Florida Energy Water & Air can install a top-notch solar water heater to improve your home’s energy efficiency and comfort.
Why Choose Florida Energy Water & Air?
Florida Energy Water & Air has been a local, family-run business since 1989 and has an excellent reputation for providing quality products and great service. We proudly install solar water heaters made by Rheem®, an American manufacturer and one of the world’s leading producers of both residential and commercial water heaters. We also hold an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and are an authorized service provider for The Home Depot.
Benefits of a Solar Water Heater
The primary advantage of a solar water heater for your home is reduced reliance on expensive gas or electricity for the purpose of water heating. In addition, solar hot water heaters are:
- Highly energy efficient.
- More eco-friendly than conventional water heaters– The latest models are said to be capable of preventing 4,000 pounds of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere every year.
- Long-lasting – Solar water heaters last longer than conventional water heaters, with an average lifespan of roughly 15 to 30 years.
Investing in a solar water heating system is a step you can take to help protect the environment and your wallet.
How Do Solar Water Heaters Work?
Solar water heaters generally consist of a holding tank, a pump, and a series of roof-mounted solar energy collectors. A backup gas or electric system is recommended for times when naturally heated water isn’t available, such as periods of insufficient sunlight. Consider the following factors when choosing a solar water heater:
- Sunlight availability – Though Orlando receives a lot of sunshine, too much shade over your roof can reduce the effectiveness of the system. The solar energy collectors that will be installed should ideally receive direct sunlight between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. year-round.
- Desired performance characteristics – Not all solar water heating systems are the same. They are typically categorized by collector type (batch, flat plate, evacuated tube) and circulation system (direct, closed-loop, forced-circulation, passive). A qualified contractor should be able to help you identify the best solar water heater for your needs.
- Maintenance requirements – Periodic maintenance will likely be necessary to ensure the most efficient operation of your solar water heater.
- Rebates and credits – The cost to install a solar water heater can be reduced if you qualify for a manufacturer rebate or a governmental incentive such as a tax credit.
Our solar water heater systems also provide protection from energy price spikes, replacement costs, and tax increases since renewable energy systems qualify for both state and federal tax credits.
How Much Does a Solar Water Heater Cost?
While solar water heaters do tend to cost more than gas or electric systems, going solar will almost invariably help you save money in the long term. According to HomeAdvisor, the average price of a solar water heater is approximately $3,500. This figure can vary as other costs generally must be considered, such as:
- Installation expenses
- Permitting
- Future service and repairs
- Backup heater requirements
Helping You Save Money
A Rheem solar water heater will be less expensive to own and operate over the years. The U.S. Department of Energy says that solar water heaters—particularly those that are ENERGY STAR® certified—can lower household water heating expenses by 50% or more per year. And, according to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), switching from an electric water heater to one that uses solar energy can be particularly beneficial, enabling you to save 50% to 85% on your water heating bill annually. How much money, specifically, will you be able to save? Factors include:
- The amount of hot water you use
- The efficiency rating of the solar water heater
- The cost of fuel for, and how frequently you use, a backup heater
- The availability of financial incentives (e.g., tax credits) for investing in environmentally friendly technology

From what I saw in the beginning and the end, there was a huge difference. It was a job well done. It worth my time and money. And everyone should give it a try.
Excellent company, thorough, responsive, and all around amazing!! I'm so happy with my new A/C unit, attic turbine, and solar hot water heater. It has already saved me money on my electric bill.
The experience with all aspects from the presentation to installation and inspection was great. Glenn who presented was kind, informative and extremely helpful in finding the right system for us. The installer Robinson was extremely professional with the installation did a great job and John was also great in explaining the finance and perks!! Overall 10/10
This company worked very hard to remove my very old water heater. They did an excellent job installing my new one. Very professional, and kind. Willing to answer my questions also. Thank you.
Tony, the technician/plumber from Florida Energy Water & Air, was most pleasant, knowledgeable, professional. He arrived on completed the replacement of very old water heater including nearly 100% disappearance of the "knocking noise" in less than an hour, and cleaned up the work area very nicely at the end. I highly recommend his and FEWA to anyone needing these kind of services. Thanks Tony!
My experience with the team at Florida Energy Water & Air has been very positive throughout the whole process. I purchased the water treatment and air purification systems for my new home. Jack, the sales representative, did a very impressive job making the 2-hour demo fun, engaging, and interesting. I had no idea how much time had passed until it was over because he did such a great job keeping my attention. The installation was performed by Robenson a few hours later that same day! He was very professional and did a great job with the installation. I wasn’t a big fan of drilling a hole through my garage to run the water pipe, but he made the hole as small as possible and it looks like the house was built that way. He and his partner did a great job cleaning up after themselves. Finally, John was very friendly, professional, informative, and helpful during the post-installation quality inspection. Overall, it has been a very positive experience.
Great customer service. Jean Amaro was especially helpful and took care of my issues and concerns personally. Technicians were friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend their services.
